Clinical Trials Finance Manager
Location: Remote with travel to CVAUSA research practices as needed
Organization: Cardiovascular Associates of America (CVAUSA)
Job Type: Full-time Contractor (1099)
About the Role
At CVAUSA, we believe financial precision powers scientific progress. Our clinical research network—Cardiovascular Research Solutions (CVRS)—is expanding rapidly across the country. As we scale, we are building a finance function designed to support innovation, growth, and operational excellence across a multi-site research enterprise.
We are seeking an experienced Clinical Trials Finance Manager to lead and own the financial operations of our industry-sponsored clinical trials program. This is a foundational leadership role—the first of its kind within CVRS—offering the opportunity to design, implement, and lead clinical research finance from the ground up, with the backing of a national finance organization.
The Role
As the Clinical Trials Finance Manager, you will sit within the broader CVAUSA finance organization while maintaining full ownership of clinical research financial operations. You will oversee the full financial lifecycle of industry-sponsored trials—from study budgeting and forecasting to invoicing, collections, reconciliation, and reporting.
This role goes beyond transactional finance. You will build the financial backbone of a multi-practice, multi-location clinical research network, ensuring scalability, transparency, and real-time insight as the organization grows.
What You’ll Do
Build and lead the clinical trials finance function, owning all financial aspects of industry-sponsored trials including budgeting, forecasting, invoicing, collections, reconciliation, and reporting across multiple sites
Design and implement scalable financial workflows, controls, and systems that support a growing, multi-site research network
Develop annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and long-term financial models to support strategic decision-making and network expansion
Partner closely with CVAUSA finance, site leadership, research operations, and executive stakeholders to align trial finances with practice-level and enterprise goals
Ensure compliance with sponsor contracts, industry standards (ICH-GCP), internal controls, and audit-ready financial practices
Translate financial data into actionable insights through dashboards and KPIs such as AR aging, invoice cycle time, and collection performance
What We’re Looking For
5+ years of experience managing the end-to-end financial lifecycle of industry-sponsored clinical trials
Proven expertise in budgeting, forecasting, invoicing, collections, reconciliation, and financial reporting
Experience supporting private practice or private equity-backed healthcare organizations strongly preferred
Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in multi-site, multi-location environments
Strong process-design and problem-solving skills in fast-growing organizations
Self-directed leader comfortable building and owning a function from the ground up
Ideal Experience
Direct financial ownership of industry-sponsored clinical trials within a healthcare delivery or research organization
Experience working across multiple research sites or practices
Hands-on experience with Clinical Trial Management Systems (CTMS) and their financial modules
Experience working directly with sponsors on payment schedules, milestone billing, and reconciliation
Ability to partner effectively with both research and finance stakeholders to drive timely, accurate financial outcomes
Why CVAUSA
At CVAUSA, you’re not just managing budgets—you’re enabling discovery. This role offers a rare opportunity to build a national clinical research finance function at a defining moment, shape how trial finances operate at scale, and directly support the future of cardiovascular research.
This isn’t just finance.
This is the foundation of clinical research—designed, built, and led by you.
