POSITION SUMMARY:
CVAUSA is seeking a Quality & Safety Manager to join our team.  This individual will work closely with CVAUSA’s Chief Quality Officer, CVAUSA’s Quality & Value Committee, and the CVAUSA clinician network to manage and improve clinical quality and patient safety throughout the CVAUSA network. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include but not limited to):
  • Work with CVAUSA’s Chief Quality Officer to build, implement, and manage a network-wide patient safety program capable of supporting CVAUSA practices to better and more proactively manage and improve patient safety.  This program will include systems for identifying and reporting medical errors and adverse events; root cause analysis (RCAs) capabilities; and proactive management and addressal of underlying drivers of errors and adverse events.  This program will position CVAUSA as a patient safety leader and will serve as a cornerstone of CVAUSA’s Quality Management System.
  • Lead training of clinical and administrative teams across CVAUSA in quality improvement and patient safety principles, skills, and approaches. Promote a culture of safety, inclusion and continuous improvement. Support the CVAUSA network to achieve the highest standards of quality management and patient safety.
  • Implement and evaluate a regularly scheduled Culture of Safety Survey. 
  • Manage CVAUSA’s support program for the CMS Merit-Based Incentive Payment (MIPS) program, which involves tracking MIPS performance for all CVAUSA practices, educating CVAUSA practices about MIPS, and working with practices to optimize MIPS performance.
  • Develop and track structural, process, and outcomes measures for different cardiovascular conditions and procedures, including procedures performed across CVAUSA’s network of ambulatory surgery centers and office-based catheterization labs.
  • Develop, implement, and track performance for annual quality improvement initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with all levels of the organization including senior leadership to produce measurable improvements in care quality and patient safety in both process and outcome.
  • Collaborate with CVAUSA’s Compliance team to develop and manage CVAUSA-wide credentialing and quality management policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with CVAUSA’s Novocardia Division—which oversees performance in CVAUSA’s value-based and risk-based partnerships—to track and improve quality performance in these arrangements.
  • Create presentations and progress updates for CVAUSA’s Executive Leadership Team, Board of Directors, CVAUSA’s Quality & Value Committee, and Medical and Business Leadership Boards.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Quality Officer to manage and support the work and priorities of CVAUSA’s Quality & Value Committee and related sub-committees and work groups.
  • Support budgeting for CVAUSA’s Quality Department.
  • Identify and communicate need for corrective actions as appropriate.
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelors degree from a four year college.
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical or healthcare experience in a healthcare delivery organization.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in patient safety-related work
  • Strong knowledge of clinical processes and operations in outpatient cardiology
  • Strong knowledge of quality improvement and patient safety principles.
  • Prior experience building and managing a quality improvement or patient safety management program or set of related initiatives.
  • Has a track record of implementing solutions successfully.
  • Demonstrated leadership and project management skills.
  • Excellent teaching skills, consultation skills and customer service skills.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, including public presentation skills.
  • Computer literate with knowledge of Excel, maintenance of spreadsheets.
  • Prior experience with and strong working knowledge of the MIPS program strongly preferred.
  • Self-starter and highly motivated.
  • Excels in a “start-up” environment where teams are small and everyone is rolling up sleeves to get work done.
  • Able to travel 20% of time (on average)
