Revenue Cycle Manager – Phoenix, AZ Heart & Vascular Center of Arizona (HVCA)
Heart & Vascular Center of Arizona is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Revenue Cycle Manager to lead our in-house billing operations. This is a full-time, on-site position based at our clinical practice in Phoenix. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in revenue cycle management and direct proficiency with the AthenaOne EHR/EPM platform.
Key Responsibilities
Provide leadership and oversight of the entire revenue cycle process, including:
Insurance verification and benefits eligibility
Charge capture and claim submission
Claims queue management and denial resolution
Payment posting and reconciliation
Patient billing inquiries and collections
Accounts receivable (AR) management
Develop and implement standardized billing procedures and revenue cycle workflows, ensuring scalability and efficiency as the organization grows
Supervise, train, and mentor the billing and collections team to drive performance and professional development
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and revenue metrics to identify areas of opportunity and implement performance improvement initiatives
Collaborate closely with clinical, coding, and operations teams to ensure accurate documentation and compliant billing practices
Partner with the network access team to validate that contracts, fee schedules, payer enrollments, and automated rule sets are correctly configured and updated
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and payer-specific billing regulations and compliance standards; serve as the internal subject matter expert
Act as a liaison for external audits, payer communications, and third-party vendor relationships
Prepare and present regular revenue cycle reports and dashboards to leadership, identifying trends, risks, and areas for strategic focus
Develop and enforce processes that minimize billing errors and ensure compliance with all applicable payer, state, and federal guidelines
Oversee the timely processing of claims and resolution of unpaid and overpaid accounts
Regularly assess practice management system reports to refine workflows and achieve departmental and organizational goals
Anticipate changes in payer requirements and proactively align internal processes to maintain compliance
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, finance, accounting, or a related field
Minimum of 5 years of experience in medical billing and revenue cycle operations
Proven experience with AthenaOne (EHR/EPM) is required
Demonstrated leadership skills with experience managing and growing a revenue cycle team
Strong understanding of CPT/ICD coding, payer billing guidelines, and reimbursement methodologies
Experience in cardiology billing is highly preferred
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
Strong project management and process optimization background
